Mimi Fuchs, Guest Speaker for the April 16, 2021, WAS Meeting
The West Jersey Astronomical Society
invites you, other Club members and all astronomy enthusiasts over the age of 16
(Zoom rule) to join us for our April 16, 2021, Zoom meeting to learn about Submillimeter Astronomy, Black Holes and the Event Horizon Telescope. Ms.
Mimi Fuchs will be our guest speaker (see bio below). The meeting will begin
with a soft start at 7:00 pm EDT, followed by Ms. Fuchs’ presentation at
approximately 8:10 pm. Society Members PLEASE reach out and pique the interest
of other club members or astro-enthusiastic non-members (over age 16) to join
our meeting. Have them contact WAS President Al Meloni ([email protected])
and/or WAS Secretary Suzanne Leap ([email protected])
to obtain a Zoom invitation. We look forward to you joining WAS as
we learn about our amazing universe!
Mimi Fuchs is a former Telescope Systems Specialist for the
James Clerk
Maxwell Telescope (JCMT). Prior to JCMT, she worked in telescope operations
and public outreach for the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory's
Submillimeter Array. Before moving to the Big Island of Hawai'i, Mimi
enjoyed making science exciting and accessible as an educator at the North
Carolina Museum of Life and Science and Philadelphia's The Franklin Institute.
She received her B.S. in astrophysics from Haverford College and currently
serves a GAANN fellow in Systems Engineering at Drexel University.
