Here's Curly Grass Fern (Schizaea pusilla) on the eastern shore of Pakim Pond in Lebanon State Forest, NJ (a.k.a. Brendon Byrne State Forest). The fertile fronds, about 4" high, are turning brown in color, while the eponymous corkscrew sterile fronds at the base of the fertile fronds remain green. A stalk of Thread-leaved Sundew (Drosera filiformis) is near the left edge of the frame. Taken with a Canon 6D digital SLR camera and a Canon 24 to 105 mm f/4L zoom lens set to 105 mm focal length. Exposed 1/100 second at f/4, ISO 160; handheld.

A moment later, a Southern Leopard Frog hopped in front of me (identification updated from Northern Leopard Frog on 16-Oct-2019 thanks to insight from Steve M). Same camera, lens and focal length. Exposed 1/160 second at f/5, ISO 100; handheld.

After leaving Pakim Pond and Lebanon State Forest, we took adjoining Rt 72 east to Long Beach Island and ended up at Barnegat Lighthouse on the northern tip of the island at Barnegat Lighthouse State Park. Here's a view of "Old Barney" from the Atlantic Ocean side of the park at 4:49 pm (looking northwest, more-or-less towards the sinking sun, which is behind the pine tree on the left). Same camera and lens, but 24 mm focal length. Exposed 1/200 second at f/10, ISO 100; handheld.
