Photo Spotlight   Image posted 10.25.2015

Club member Dave Neunheuser captured this image of the Pelican Nebula (IC 5067 and IC 5070), along with surrounding nebulae in the constellation Cygnus, on the night of October 10/11, 2015 (mouseover for a labeled negative). Remarkably, this image was taken from light-polluted Gloucester City, NJ, near the Walt Whitman Bridge that crosses the Delaware River into Philadelphia. Dave used a Stellarvue SVX80S 80 mm refractor with a Televue Paracor corrector, and to circumvent light pollution, a 6 nm Hydrogen-alpha filter. The scope was riding a Losmandy G11 mount guided with Lodestar and PHD. It was exposed a total of 73 minutes (11 x 400 second subs) using a Finger Lakes Instruments Microline 6303 digital astro-camera.
