Photo Spotlight   Image posted 01.09.2016

Comet C/2010 US10 (Catalina) was about a degree from globular cluster NGC 5466 when club member Jerry Lodriguss captured this image of it on the morning of January 6, 2016, from Steelmantown in Belleplain State Forest, NJ. Jerry used a Canon T5i (700D) digital SLR camera at the prime focus of an Astro-Physics 130EDFGT f/6.3 triplet apochromatic refractor (with an AstroTech 1x field flattener) on an Astro-Physics 1100 German equatorial mount. It was exposed 20 minutes (10 x 120 seconds) at ISO 800. Click here for more.
