Photo Spotlight   Image posted 10.24.2016

Pictured here is the Cygnus Loop, which is most recognizably identified visually by the Veil Nebula complex (the Eastern Veil is to the left, the Western Veil is to the right and Pickering's/Flemming's Triangular Wisp is in between). The bright star at the right edge of the Western Veil is 52 Cygni. This image was captured by club secretary Dave Neunheuser on the night of October 6/7, 2016, from Gloucester City, NJ, an area with significant light pollution from nearby Philadelphia, PA. Dave used a Finger Lakes Instruments 09000 digital astro-camera at the prime focus of a Stellarvue SVS130-TCF3 f/5 apochromatic sextuplet astrograph tracking on a Losmandy G11 German equatorial mount, auto-guiding with ST-4. It was exposed a total of 80 minutes (8 x 10 minute subs) through a 6 nm H-alpha filter (to overcome light pollution) and it covers a 3° square field of view. Processed with ImagePlus 5.75.
