Mercury Moves During the Solar Transit
May 9, 2016

Two pictures of the planet Mercury transiting the sun on May  9, 2016, are compared here. The initial one with a tawny-colored sun was captured by Joe Stieber at 9:19 am EDT (details here). On mouseover, a white-colored sun captured by Steve Mattan at 11:31 am is revealed (details here). The alignment of the solar disc and the sunspots in each picture isn't perfect, but the black dot of Mercury in the lower half of the sun makes a significant jump from one frame to the other.
