Members of the WAS held a non-public star watch at Batsto in Wharton State Forest, NJ, on Saturday evening, July 27, 2024. Although atmospheric conditions were less than ideal with passing clouds and haze from smoke due to distant forest fires. Regardless, club member John McDaniel captured this splendid image of Messier 20, the Trifid Nebula, in Sagittarius. John used a Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 telescope tracking on a ZWO AM-5 equatorial mount with a ZWO OAG-L off-axis guider. Taken with a ZWO ASI2600mc color camera using 33 frames of 120 seconds each (66 minutes total exposure). Processed with PixInsight and Adobe Lightroom. Click the image for a larger version.
