On March 9, 2019, the young moon was less than a day old at sunset in the Philadelphia region. When this image was captured at 6:27 pm EST, the moon was just 21 hours 33 minutes old (after new moon at 8:54 pm EST the previous evening). Taken by club member Joe Stieber from Swede Run in Moorestown, NJ, with a Canon EOS 6D digital SLR camera (on a fixed tripod) and a Sigma 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 zoom lens set to 300 mm focal length. Exposed 1/80 second at f/8, ISO 3200. The slender crescent was initially spotted at 6:11 pm (21 hours 17 minutes old, 10 minutes after sunset) with 10x50 binoculars, then seen with unaided eyes at 6:26 pm.
