Photo Spotlight   Image posted 07.07.2016

The slender, 3.2% illuminated Crescent Moon was captured by WAS President Roger Cowley on July 5, 2016, at 8:54 pm EDT, 22 minutes after sunset, when it was 37 hr 53 min old (since New Moon on July 4th at 7:01 am EDT). It was taken from a playing field in Marlton, NJ, with a low horizon since the moon was just 4½° altitude at the time. Roger used a Nikon D80 digital SLR camera and a Tamron 100 to 300 mm zoom lens set to 250 mm focal length. Exposed 1/30 second at f/10, ISO 800.
