Photo Spotlight   Image posted 7.25.2020

Club member Howard Schneck captured this close-up image of comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) around 11 pm EDT on July 21, 2020, while on vacation at Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It covers a field 48 arc minutes wide x 31 arc minutes high, with the upper-left corner pointing north. It's a stack of 20 x 1 minute subs processed in PixInsight (but no flats). Taken with a Canon EOS T3 digital SLR camera and a Celestron Edge HD8 scope with a focal reducer yielding an effective focal length of 1484 mm. It was tracking with an EQ-6 equatorial mount, but not guided.

Jim used a Nikon Z6 mirrorless digital camera at the prime focus of a William Optics Spacecat 51 mm apo refractor tracking on an iOptron equatorial mount. It's a single 15 second exposure.
