Welcome to the Official Home Page of the West Jersey Astronomical Society (additionally known as the Willingboro Astronomical Society). Our club is in its 54th year of serving both the public and the amateur astronomers of the Delaware Valley. We have a long history of public education, star parties, interesting meetings, in-depth training and experienced leadership. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Club member Howard Schneck captured this image of the Monkey Head Nebula (NGC 2174 in the constellation Orion) from suburban Mount Laurel, NJ, on the nights of March 2, 8 & 9, 2021. North is down and east is to the right in a field of view 48 arc minutes wide x 33 arc minutes high (roughly 0.8° x 0.5°). It was captured with a modified Canon T3 digital SLR camera with an Astronomic clip filter for light pollution control at the prime focus of a Celestron Edge HD8 telescope plus a focal reducer, providing a net focal length of 1488 mm. Tracking was provided by a Sky-Watcher NEQ6 Pro German equatorial mount guided by an Orion 60 mm, f/4 guidescope with a ZWO ASI120MM-S camera. Integration time was 4.35 hours (78 x 120 seconds + 35 x 180 seconds, 30 flats). Capture was accomplished with NINA, PHD2 and Stellarium, processing with PixInsight.
